EAST MEADOW

Located just east of what once was a brook and a meadow by the Hempstead Plains, East Meadow was named. Very suitable for grazing, it’s sheep once provided 50% of the wool sold in the US. The livestock industry remained vibrant until after the revolutionary war. Today, East meadow is home to the Nassau County Medical Center, the tallest building in Long Island.
